Scotty Cranmer gets Trey Jones and Big Boy to try 80's tricks

I don't watch Scotty Cramner's channel on a regular basis, but I know he has some great stuff on it.  This gem from a couple of months ago got shared by old school flatlander Mike Sarrail on Facebook yesterday, and I thought it was awesome.  Someone gave Scotty an old "101 craziest freestyle tricks" book from the 80's, about 1988, I'd guess by the tricks, and he decided to have Trey Jones and Big Boy try some.  They pick random numbers, then go to that page and try each trick. 

OK, I lived and rode through the 1980's, and I could only do two of those tricks in my prime, and those weren't consistent.  But this video is hilarious if you're an old school rider.  See, our tricks were hard, some of them, anyhow.  And there were lots of them, HUNDREDS of tricks that fell by the wayside over the years.  Maybe some of the youngsters will dust a few of those tricks off and revamp them.  This one is well worth the watch in my book.

BRAND NEW- Trey Jones: Backyard Brawl

What is it with Florida guys and fire?  Who cares, really.  It makes for good video.  Here's The Shadow Conspiracy living up to their name... Trey Jones getting creative with the sketchy carpentry and the bike in his backyard.  And fire.  Had to have fire.  Some pretty crazy riding, and I love the skateboard as a lip/landing idea to mix things up.  It's funny, as the big promoters continue to take bikes in a big, stadium sport-like direction, the hardcore riders are going the opposite way with Steve Crandall's DIY World Championships (with its Ghetto Jam roots), and Trey's recent Swampfest, back to fun, crazy, goofy, riding jams.  Love this stuff. 

The use of the skateboard, and the whole fun feel of this video, kind of reminded me of this guy I rode with in the 80's.  He was always telling us to relax, try new stuff, and just have fun with riding.  He's the guy you see blending bike and skateboard at 23:25 in this video.

Trey Jones from Shadow Conspiracy's "What could go wrong?"

So here's the deal.  I'm an old guy.  52 in fact.  Ancient.  I was all about BMX freestyle (as we called it then) from about 1982 to about 2003.  I wound up working in the industry, made videos, and stuff like that.  But I've been out of the scene for over 15 years, and out of the industry for over 20.  I watch videos now and then, but there are a whole bunch of riders who've come up that I just don't know about. 

Talking about who to start looking at to get this blog off the ground with Rich (from Block Bikes Online Store), Trey Jones was one of the names he said to check out.  So I found that clip in the last post of Scotty Cranmer and posse goofin' around on Trey's new ramp set-up.  Yeah, that was cool.  But not earth shattering riding.  So I decided to go back and check out Trey's video sections. 

Holy crap!  Trey Jones is NUTS.  And he can ride.  It's not just like, "Hey, how 'bout I try to jump off this four story building, that'll look cool."  This guy's got some skills.  As an old geezer from 80's flatland, I dig the nosewheelies and front wheel G-turn to bank drop.  Oh yeah, AND there's like 43 huge drops, many with gnarly bunnyhops over rails or chains.  High risk stuff.  You young guys know all this.  But here in this section is a reminder of why Trey Jones is one of your favorite riders.  And now one of mine, too.  I'll stop rambling, you watch this clip.  And you guys (and gals) know where to get your Shadow Conspiracy and Subrosa stuff, right?

Highlights of this edit include the dog drop-in pictured above, a flair at about 4 1/2 mph, full pipe fakie challenge, Big Boy Ninja/caveman drop, and some cool lines.  Subrosa rider Trey Jones... now a guy you want to visit and session with.  Epic backyard.
